Hire a freelance Node.js developer

Node.js has been my main backend tool for over a decade. I have used it to build shipping platforms, streaming backends, ecommerce integrations, and APIs serving over a million users.

If you need someone who can design a backend, build it, deploy it, and keep it fast and maintainable, that is the work I do every day. I write everything in TypeScript and I care as much about the developer experience of the codebase as the product it powers.

What makes Ruan stand out is that he actually cares about the work he does. He wants each line of code to be his best work.

Not in a I'll-take-my-own-sweet-time kind of way. But in a I-want-to-help-the-business-succeed kind of way.

What I can help with

  • REST APIs with Node.js, TypeScript, and frameworks like Fastify and Express
  • Third party integrations: payments, shipping, ecommerce platforms, webhooks
  • Background jobs, queues, and data pipelines
  • Database design and performance with PostgreSQL
  • Migrating legacy backends to modern Node.js and TypeScript
  • Deploying to AWS, Google Cloud, and Cloudflare

Experience

At VESYL I built the Node.js backend of a shipping platform for ecommerce sellers, including integrations with Shopify, eBay, Amazon, EasyPost, and WarehouseOS. For Barry’s Bootcamp I built the backend behind their live streaming platform. At Testlio I worked on the backend of a platform with over a million users.

I also write about Node.js. My guides on buffers, Fastify schemas, and Docker based development environments have been read by thousands of developers.

Questions

What kind of Node.js work do you take on?

Mostly product backends: APIs, integrations with third party services, background processing, and the infrastructure around them. I take on both greenfield builds and existing codebases that need new features, performance work, or a cleanup.

Do you use TypeScript?

Yes, all of my Node.js work is written in TypeScript. I have also migrated several plain JavaScript codebases to TypeScript incrementally, without stopping feature work.

Can you work on our existing Node.js codebase?

Yes. A lot of my freelance work starts inside an existing codebase. I am comfortable reading unfamiliar code, mapping out how it works, and making changes without breaking what is already there.

How much does it cost to hire a freelance Node.js developer?

I work with fixed project fees or monthly retainers rather than hourly billing. The price depends on the scope, so the first step is a short conversation about what you need. Email [email protected] and I will put together a proposal.

Send me an email and tell me what you are building and what kind of help you need.

If I am not the right fit, I will say so and try to point you to someone who is.
